Swift Global Logistics Ltd, an affiliate of Dubai-based Swift Freight International recently bagged the coveted Outstanding Innovation Award at the recently concluded China (Shenzhen) International Logistics Fair for its innovative product, SAM or Sea Air Model, besting eight others in the same category. The event was hosted and organized by the Committee of China (Shenzhen) International Logistics Fair (CILF) and Union of China City Logistics Associations.

Behram Baluch, Swift Regional Director to the Far East, said that the award came as a pleasant surprise but asserted that, “SAM is the only service of the same magnitude that offers an organized mode of transport that is fixed and reliable for cargo moving from the Far East into Africa.”

SAM moves goods from the Far East into various destinations into Africa via transshipment in Dubai. What makes SAM unique is its multimodal combined transport capability with fixed departure and 6-month advance schedules, enabling industry players to plan their business cycles better.

Baluch highlights the positive qualities of SAM, one of which is cost-efficiency. “As the economic downturn hits all businesses the world over, companies are forced to look for an efficient multimodal combined transport that offers a cost-effective way to move cargo – and SAM answers this concern. We have clients happily giving us feedback that SAM has saved them up to 45 per cent compared to Air-to-Air cargo,” he said.

Baluch also emphasized the importance of SAM Sales Agents, which include top logistics players in the Far East. “We have an extensive roster of agents that are authorized to sell SAM, and we are hoping to expand this further. We hope this award will increase the awareness on SAM and encourage more to become authorized SAM Sales Agents,” he added.

To ensure the authority of the Awards, the organizing committee of CILF 2008 particularly invited experts to form the judge teams, including those in manufacturing, commercial and trade, logistics, and many others.
